i ended up working until 2 and by that point it was almost over. thought about swinging by coz i was in bushwick anyway but didn't. people are saying that he didn't play much jungle anyway

Got there for the last half of his set. I wonder if he did play jungle in the beginning and then shifted gears to suit the crowd because it was full of ‘club kid’ lookatme’s and people dancing way too enthusiastically to very mediocre old school house our old hero diddled around with on his iPad. Not to mention the sound was wildly inconsistent, mostly quiet and muffled, jumping levels and even cutting out completely a couple times. A handful of acid jams and my girlfriend’s ever-glowing presence kept me dancing with her but overall I did not like being at Nowadays. The crowd pissed me off and I could feel all sorts of prejudices (against drug users, sexual deviants, musical illiterates and mesh wearers of all stripes) welling up inside me.

it's weird with the crowd there coz it varies. i've been there a couple of times when the crowd has been totally off. but it's more that it's people who are there to do what they would normally do in an LES club. i know what you mean about essentially there are a lot of people there who think they're cool. i think tbh if it was the equivalent people in england i would have total contempt for the whole thing. none of that makes me bristle in america though idk why

The "concerned resident" quoted is hilarious...

The concern was echoed by a resident who asked councillors to limit the venue’s hours to 11pm to protect “vulnerable” jazz enthusiasts from criminals operating in the West End.
The unnamed resident wrote: “It is suggested that it is extremely likely that some of the dispersing jazz lovers may be inebriated to a greater or lesser extent or perhaps slightly disorientated by their emergence into the cool night air."
