maybe i should put this in the "does my head in but makes me chuckle" thread but...
is it just me, or does it seem like every year, there's one album that comes out of nowhere to make many of these lists? this year, it seems to be "suburban tours" by rangers. apparently it came out in march 2010, can't say i ever remember reading much about it or hearing anyone hype it all year, yet a whole slew of critics and other assorted musical tastemakers have included it in their best of 2010 lists.
if i were cynical, i'd wonder if some folks weren't necessarily thinking independently about their choices and perhaps a little too concerned with being in-the-know with their colleagues. good thing i'm not cynical!
