on Christmas day I accompanied my fake niece to the corner shop where she cunningly conned me into buying four more bottles of Prosecco

( we had already worked our way through four bottles beforehand - like she said, one bottle only equals one glass each if five are sharing, it made perfect sense at the time and she was actually right )

My wife has just purchased a vacuum cleaner hose, a bathroom tidy caddy, and a toothbrush holder.

We're both wasted.

Why just yesterday I made a real cupboard-cleaner of a cocktail, using up the rest of the dry vermouth, some dry sherry as an extender, the rest of the campari, and gin.

I'm sort of inclined to say "yuck" but also simultaneously impressed by the "improv"

Mrs. Leo looks around uncertainly, unable - despite her breeding - to suppress a shiver of distaste. Her dear husband has brought her here with talk of a 'pub', but the Hare & Hounds this most certainly is not. They had better at least have a decent dry sherry, or there will be Words.
