I'd have guessed French as well.
My friend who was with me and also tarred with the French brush is from Grimsby and a lot of people do say that that is kinda like Paris in terms of overall aesthetic and sophistication and even the accent in a strange kind of way.

This Baltika stuff is pretty decent, we got at least four different types, same shaped bottles, different colours for wheat beer whatever. But I remember Baltika being a safe bet when we were there... I had to fight to get to drink it though cos all the bars would say "We got a special treat for you.... London Pride" - why would I want to travel half way round the world to drink something they have at home (even if I did like it which I don't).
