A Liniment's Evil Work
I wonder how many modern libs that constantly talk about social justice ever put their ass on the line and were willing to be violently attacked, socially excluded, etc. for doing things like going to gay clubs in the south in the early 90s, hanging out and listening and making rap music with black people in the south in the 80s, etc. etc. etc. - I bet they're just as much cowards as most everyone else, yet I have intellectual and social disabilities, yet I'm somehow part of the problem for being white, straight and male.

No the Brooklyn Culture Mafia is traditionally quite woke and progressive, high in POC representation. It's the LES/Chinatowners you'd theoretically worry about, but they're mostly just apolitical or lightly conservative

there's two distinct groups isn't there. the brooklyn culture mafia you started this thread with are the LES lot. there's the other culture mafia which is at nowadays and dripping and loves ketamine so on that's actually in brooklyn. i can't believe you'd destroy your own legacy by conflating the two

all the weird people who love drugs and don't have much money and are all currently obsessed with gaza as some kind of meta-cause increasingly unrelated to the actual situation on the ground are in the ridgewood cultural mafia. the brooklyn cultural mafia that spendo defined are the intelligencia who love wine coffee and insta and have enough money from their parents to live in manhattan. dean kisseck is a private school kid who grew up in oxford

Yes it's really disappointing.

These people were more Brooklyn based when I started the thread. E.g. I think Red Scare originally broadcast out of a Williamsburg apartment and were more strongly linked w the Brooklyn Chapo scene they're now contrasted with. Big event at Union Hall kicked off their rise to fame. But yes, it was poorly named in retrospect

Tbf that's both scenes. Just different drugs. Uppers and ket vs weed and shrooms.

Anyway these are all obviously caricatures, and out of date at that. It's been four years since the thread began and at least two years since I followed any of this stuff. Paid even less attention once I moved back to New York. So I am resigning as thread authority and this will be my last post as Op. I am confirming Shakaslop in my stead; thank you Shaka for volunteering.
