if you're in it for the long haul, these blips (either up or down) don't really matter, do they? a movement caused by a credible event is different.
You're right, they don't matter, provided you're operating long-term
and believe this tech will actually find plentiful use cases in society, rather than pure speculation. Plenty of people doubt their investments when there is a steep enough dip, and their selling only pushes the market price down further, it would seem.
But yeah the spikes and valleys are only devastating if you're operating on a short term basis. An insane amount of over-leveraged traders get liquidated whenever one of these flash crashes happen, as in $100,000,000's of collateral.
I'm holding long term, and getting passive income on pretty much the whole portfolio, and these are funds I can afford to invest with, so the crashes don't effect me at all.
