Yeah I recently listened to an interview of Cronje who was working on some new DeFi protocol on Fantom called ve(3,3) which is an odd name ("vote escrow" "vested escrow" and apparently "(3,3)" is a running joke from Olympus DAO). In the interview he did seem pretty disillusioned with the space, for many of the same reasons highlighted in the discussions we've been having here recently, namely that the culture of the space is dominated by unscrupulous and impatient investors, and the grifters who exploit them.

I have a little FTM, was holding back a deeper investment until I understood it a bit more.

Actually the "ve" may indeed stand for vote-escrowed, as in the Curve documentation I'm reading through.

veCRV stands for vote-escrowed CRV, it is simply CRV locked for a period of time. The longer you lock CRV for, the more veCRV you receive.

I just watched The Defiant review of it, and I agree that the documentation erred on the side of colorful language ("building a richer vocabulary of financial theses" etc), but I didn't really understand what the protocol(s) itself does.
