Nail is a local face whose vast back catalogue speaks for itself

Given the paucity of new materiial getting through and all debates about ‘dance’ music aside, this bumps hard. Nail had the mst coherent track on the o.g DiY lp out on Warp with Cassiopeia and a few years later took everything weighty with US third wave producers and nailed it across an entire bumping solo lp with Big D’s Lounge. Two lp’s I’ll never sell and to top it off, the bloke can still unlock a thumping rumbling dubby groover

William kent dispises the congos bongo ah bongo

second worst overrated reggae album EVER

edit: actually, it is the WORST OVERRATED REGGAE ALBUM EVER - one good tune does not an album make

my number one spot varies - sometimes the Congos are in pole position, next minute it is bunny wailer and weakheart black heart man

Ghostface Killah feat. Cappadonna, Method Man & Redman - Buck 50 (2000)
This is fucking 25 years old FFS.

I'm watching a Netflix series about the feds bustin da mob in 80s New Yoik and the intro is the song this tune samples.

"... my main bitches call me lazy
Educated birds say, "Ghost, you so crazy!""

"Super-cali-fragi-listic-expi-ali-docious
Docious-ali-expi-fragi-listic-cali-super"

Picking up on other people’s picks. Courtesy of @subvert47 ’s thread, so tired at this point it perfectly captures halogen strips flickering in rammed labyrinthine healthcare units, where you can open a door to an old wing and it’s completely empty = appropriate, the track after it too, music as anticipation of mood

Cappadonna is embarrassingly below par on this

OTOH I liked that about Wu Tang, you had some super slick Method Man or Inspectah Deck rap and then a guy who sounds like he's come into the studio off the street with a shopping trolley full of newspapers

This song brings many tears to my eyes. I miss the 80s so very much. My whole family was alive and well, I had no worries and just loving life. I'm 51 now and most of my family have passed on and this world is far different than it once was.

Once you lived the 80s you stay there forever.

My mother and father danced to this song every night in my youth. They passed away a day apart from each other. They left me alone, but I listen to this song and I feel them close to me again

I’m 70. I think the 80’ s were my happiest years. I had 3 young children; I was loved, needed, and fulfilled. That sax brings tears to my eyes.
