Corpsey

bandz ahoy
This film is about an amoral assassin without any political beliefs so not on point in that respect but I do think it was somewhat "prescient" for him to be a self-optimizing confucius-quoting smiths-loving sort of an assassin

Don't think they were worried it would founder, were they? They wanted it to founder as they were scared progress/automation would put them out of work.
Yes, it would founder from their perspective. Same concern holds with automation and AI now.

I think in that context what he means by exhaustion's fewer opportunities for growth and expansion, more lucrative opportunities elsewhere.
I'm not seeing it. More cash than ever floating about and people still finding ways to spend it. Virtual acquisitions acting as a multiplier too.

Hmm, the way I remember things is that it's not that he was celebrated for the murder, it was more that he got away with it which seemed to be celebrated mainly by black americans, which I thought was due to black americans being tired of seeing rich white americans getting away with stuff.

These outlets are really desperate to steer the discussion away from the insurance industry and into the relative safety of the usual left-right bickering:
"... the internet’s peculiar fascination with Mangione, whose good looks and privileged background have garnered him fans despite him being accused of a high-profile murder in broad daylight... "
"... the fictionalized version of the shooter that was created online does not match reality. Mangione, who allegedly had a handwritten manifesto admitting to the killing in his possession when arrested, is a software engineer from a privileged background. He also follows popular right-wing influencers, such as Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, and Jordan Peterson—though he has also criticized some of the arguments put forward by these figures."
