I think, unfortunately, it's direct GQ reader target audience. I'm not knocking it - or you! - I thought with a sinking heart the other week about how one of my favourite items of clothing is from Gap, and how far I've fallen - but I think it's GQ, they kind of mix up BR stuff with things we can't afford, like all these :

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...or=COFFEE&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=

which I think I would kill for at the moment.

Brooks Brothers stuff is just beautiful. I've been dying to dress like that since I first listened to 'Don't Stand Me Don't by Dexy's Midnight Runners. But the prices ...

Video to go along with the show in question here!

ah nice. thanks for linkage. good fun for the whole family :) we enjoyed it so much we watched liked 4 or 5 other of his run way shows in a roll... with dj sets from my archive :)

this is the kind of thing i want to see when i go to a fashion show. not fucking ready to wear street shit. Alexander Mcqueen rocks.

looking for a mid-weight jacket, something to wear in spring/fall when it's cool but not cold. not sure if i should look for something slightly smart or more casual, maybe the type of thing that i can wear with a hoody underneath. everything i have now is too light/summery or too heavily/winter. hmm. thoughs? thanks.

A tweed blazer? You can find them everywhere (from Urban Oufitters,River Island, COS, to M&S, think even Benetton do them [been looking for a winter coat so I went round the shops last week, did not find anything. But tweed jackets, duffels and peacoats are everywhere] - have a look here for ideas http://www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk/Clothing/Coats+Jackets/icat/mjackets ).

If you go for a rough dark tweed it will look good with both jeans (and it won't look silly with a hoodie either) and more formal stuff and will last for ever. Should be able to find a good one for say 60 quid upwards (or cheaper in a charity shop).

i've started jogging home from work! yesterday the temperature was relatively mild (12 degrees), so a large t-shirt was sufficient in keeping me warm enough to brace the 4 mile distance, however i'd quite like to keep this up during the colder weeks ahead; therefore would like to invest in proper jogging coucher. preferably something that doesn't make me look super camp. anyone on this board have experience of jogging during harsher weather conditions? I should imagine it’s pretty difficult getting the right balance of body tempo with clothes, especially considering how random the weather is here in the uk!

forgot to say i need something for my upperbody.

Dunno about jogging, but for variable work rates in crap UK conditions I'd either get a nice long sleeved baselayer (Patagonia and Smelly Hanson do decent ones) and a lightweight pertex windshirt (Montane Featherlight or Rab Windshirt are pretty good) to go over the top, or some sort of all-in-one windproof breathable top like the lightweight Rab Vapour Rise...

3 years of living in berlin have seen me go from Wong Kar Wei films wardrobe to looking just this side of homeless... my raggidy ass hoody is torn on both sleeves, the elbows completely see through, the zippers on my boots are all broken and fucked, my jeans with holes in them...

i started smartening up a few years ago in my late 20s. but shirts are def the way forward. though its hard finding good shirts that arent too expensive. trousers even more so. (anyone able to recommend any good places in london for these?) i stick to plain dark jeans that look relatively smart. nothing that screams out scruffy denim. im at that point where i dont ever want anyone to think im trying to dress like someone who works in top shop (which last time i went, had the most awful clothes).

Top Shop is pretty dire (but sometimes has the odd gem). I always check out Therpay at Liverpool Street, which often has amazing shirts or/and jeans at basement prices, plus some good sportswear if you're into that. Lots of other places around Liverpool Street too, towards Commercial Street (and also a few along Whitechapel Road). I like Guide London sometimes, and they have a shop round there (never sure where it is tho).

I bought 2 inch lifts for my shoes. Now I'm 5 foot 9, yeah!

Wouldn't want to run for a bus in them, though.

How does that work? Do you put them inside your shoes or are they on the outside like platforms? If they're on the inside is it like walking in heels? I'm kinda really intrigued, I always wondered what it would be like to be tall. "Tall" huh, in my case I'd make it to just under 5'7 in your shoes.

They go inside your shoes, so they wouldn't fit in a little pair of pumps or something. You need ones with reasonable sized backs, most of my leather shoes work with them ok. They're made out of gel, so quite comfortable. Most shoes add about an inch anyway, so I'm more like 5'10 in them.

Nobody's noticed, as far as I'm aware, and they were only a tenner.

speaking as someone who has worked w/ a few people who wear 'em, let me say, we all notice and we talk about it behind your back...

speaking of shoes, if i had a spare 300 bucks, i would cop these in a sec:

Nah... my mates would have brutally ripped me for it by now.

Only the gf knows... and she's 5'1 and wears 5 inch heels, so she can't complain.
