It's brewed in Tadcaster. Pure simulacrum.

edit
The packaging uses a red design featuring a chulapo man in a cap and houndstooth waistcoat, echoing the Moretti branding. It trades heavily on its Spanish associations, using the slogan "El Alma de Madrid" ("the soul of Madrid"), although it is brewed in Tadcaster,[9][10] which has long been a centre for British brewing. The beer is aimed at the premium end of the British and Irish lager market.[11]

Yeah, I feel the same, but I'm not a big drinker so maybe it's been popular for a while. @luka or @wg- will know.
yeah it came on the scene realitively recently. new lagers do seem to be able to barge into the market. like all the fake spanish ones about now. and the real ones that came in the wake of the fake ones.

What are all these other fake/real Spanish beers? I'm intrigued.

The only beer you can get on tap in the bars in Sevilla is Cruzcampo. Very occasionally you might get Estrella de Galicia. Neither of them are particularly good unless you know where to go. The standard of beer on tap has gone right down in recent years around here, nothing worse than flat lager.

When you are lucky enough to get a properly crispy cold one on a hot day, it's such an amazing feeling when the first one hits the back of your throat

I'm totally sworn off red wine now. I love it but it totally wrecks me the next day every single time and gives me the shits. Beer all the way.

It works in similar ways further afield too, Yanks have faux Mexican ish beer, eg Modelo

It’s not bad and tastes slightly better after half hour in the freezer

Dinky bottle, gold foil ritual opening

Belgian style wheat beers and ipa’s were launching as I lost interest, wheat beers can be changed marginally by a slice of orange compared to lime in a drink like Modelo

Red wine is lighter on the system in autumn and winter, lethal gear because why leave one glass worth in the bottle for the following day. Spain? Lordy, so many incredible choices as in stretching credibility, plus you’re closer to source where they reserve x number of bottled crates for established domestic buyers

La Mancha reds are banging, you must be able to get really good deals @Benny Bunter but if you’re not looking, fair enough

Found by thieving in hospitality gigs and stealing to order too, ridiculous with hindsight but it brought up a rare sample of oldest Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, still the smoooooothest looooooooooongest toffee, light caramel and cigar box cliche but tobacco is the closest, depth for days and a finish to get quite emotional over

Too many options with alcohol, close tab close tab empty basket delete browsing history

I it when they pour it into a glass that's been kept in a freezer so it goes all frosty.

The complementary nibbles are good too.

There's an abundance of great reasonably priced wine in Spain and they mostly keep it to themselves - I respect that. I fucking Iove it but for the last couple of years it almost always goes right through me. I had a suicidal hangover the other day that's put me right off it...

..until the next time.
