a wonderful wooden reason

Underlow emits a constant whining sound which ebbs and flows with the moon. It is protected by a foul gas and stands on marshy ground. The nearest settlement is a tiny hamlet named Churchwick which was abandoned during the First World War. An ideal outlet when discretion is necessary.

Heh, glad this website is still up, I stumbled across it a few years ago. It's totally tongue-in-cheek, and one of those rare instances where "it's funny because it's 'wacky'" really is funny. Or not necessarily even funny, but interesting and worth looking at.

Some of them almost have an air of suburban Lovecraftianism about them:

Yeah, this is definitely hauntology with a slight undercurrent of humour... I love places like these, and photos of them. Brilliant stuff.

Another great thing is, once you've looked at a few of the ones catalogued on the guy's website you see them EVERYWHERE. I mean, obviously they were there before, but you see them as 'entrances to hell'. :D

Thng is, I was sorta looking for them even before I saw the site... things like access doors in railway tunnels and underpasses...

ghost stations used to creep the shit out of me. i think it's at the far west end of the district line, going towards ealing common, where you go past two or three at minimum possible speed. had to do that journey once at like sixteen and i didn't enjoy it...

The first thing I thought was that the enterprise had a faint ring of yoghurt about it.

And if you do see any mysterious holes out and about in the environs you can submit them for inclusion the gazetteer.

Old skool home-brew websites FTW.

Stinkhorn

Stinkhorn opened in 1283 to much public fanfare, and has enjoyed steady use ever since. She runs well under Windows XP but is notoriously glitchy under Vista; local dowsers blame this on interference between the East End's complex ley line system and the nearby A11.

It's blatantly a fake site run by chaostrophists, cos it don't have the Elephant and Castle one innit. True dat.

...salektah!

Guess again. :)

I live in Bow (as do you, right?) , and everytime I tell someone, they say selectah. Will this ever end?

Anyway, my guess is Theydon Bois. Best named station on the underground imo
