Thankfully I've been in the green with ALGO since september, but I'm not really familiar with its architecture. My understanding is that its a 3rd gen blockchain that doesn't have as much of an ecosystem as Ethereum, but is probably technically be superior in terms of energy efficiency and transaction fees, maybe even in terms of security.
Actually the web3 intelligence agency I'm brainstorming, I think I'll build on Algorand first. It seems to run on Python, rather than some bespoke language like Solidity or Clarity.
Plus, I owe a lot of my confidence to the fact that Algorand is an MIT project and has renowned cryptographers behind it.
As for price predictions, I'm not expecting anything wild soon.

Sounds like a scam, at worst, or a joke, at best.
Although I do wonder, from an outside perspective, how easy it is to smell the scams that seem obvious to me.
Like Ethereum Max, for instance, which has now led to a lawsuit against Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather and Paul Pierce.

Stranger things have happened. Sushiswap is a legit project, for instance, but based on the name alone I'd be inclined to call it a scam.

The core technology of Octopus Network is trust-minimal blockchain interoperability. Furthermore, appchains can interoperate with blockchains outside the Octopus Network, either via bridges on NEAR, such as with Ethereum via Rainbow bridge, or they can utilize the out-of-the-box IBC pallet to connect with any IBC enabled blockchains directly.
Yeah so in this case, it could be a legit project. The difficulty is that the jargon is so difficult to parse out sometimes, you can't always tell if there is a legit project underneath it all. In this case, it doesn;t jump out as a scam to me, but I also know almost nothing about it.
Yeah another problem about crypto, all of the tribal apologists who are expecting overnight riches.

So a hearing from the house energy committee was announced, regarding energy consumption in crypto, and I'm happy to hear that they will rightfully be focusing on PoW blockchains, rather than assuming its a problem across all of crypto:
The United States House Committee on Energy and Commerce has announced a hearing on the cryptocurrency industry’s energy consumption. The hearing will take place on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
“In just a few short years, cryptocurrency has seen a meteoric rise in popularity. It’s time to understand and address the steep energy and environmental impacts it is having on our communities and our planet,” said Committee Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) in a joint statement.
The two added that a focus of this hearing would be on proof-of-work (PoW) blockchains—like those used by Bitcoin and Ethereum—and how such cryptocurrencies could migrate to cleaner alternatives.

And this isn't even near the top, in terms of crypto heists. To my knowledge, the biggest heists ever were taken in crypto. A few hundred million dollars I think was the biggest one.
