Also that newish tom hardy one about the krays is OK.

There's a nasty one with the Kemp brothers from the 90s too. Remember seeing that as a kid and being disturbed by Ronnie (Gary) putting a sword through someone's hand on a pool table.

i should watch that 28 days later film. that scene in particular would be interesteing to watch, espectially since i spent some time walking thru that area

The rest isn't as compelling as that opening scene, gets pretty silly towards the end and it's just not that great a film.

Yeah I remember that one too. Not one I want to rewatch.

This is one is worst films I've ever seen. My passionate hatred of Godard and possibly all French cinema largely stems from this film.

I rented it on video from Cardiff library back in 1999 and I literally couldn't believe my eyes.

I think first godard best godard. I'd happily watch breathless again and a few of the others are ok, but it's mainly the odd bit in them that works and the rest is interminably boring.
ooooh yea heard great things of this
Its one of the cult films listed in Danny pearys excellent book

Naked is a very good shout.

There is also, more recently, "London to Brighton" which is a bit grubby and falls away as a film once they get to Brighton, but some strong bits early on.

You've also got classics like "Nil by mouth", again quite heavy but if you liked Naked... One of my fave English films.

The early hitchcock with ivor novello, blackmail (?) is also very good and very London.

There's a very early Hitchcock with Novello called The Lodger, is that what you're thinking of? Maybe they did others together but I don't remember one called Blackmail.

One I haven't seen that I'd like to is Hidden City. The BFI recently reissued it.

There's a good bleak 60s one I can't remember the name of, about a swimming pool cleaner who gets mixed up in a murder or something. Deep end?

Deep End is Skolimowski who made The Shout. I always assumed that he died decades ago but he suddenly popped a couple of years back and started making films again. Dunno what the new ones are like but enjoyed hid old stuff.

They use Mother Sky by Can on the soundtrack to Deep End - my friend said "that was the best bit, but then again if they used that tune in Citizen Kane then that bit would be the best scene".
