It's absolutely untrue. See Ben Goldacre. My point about the 25-times-stronger 'statistic' is that it's misleading and almost certainly quantitatively untrue.

Government ministers probably get access to the really good stuff. Look at the house of lords, proper lean up.Yeah, I've read his piece since that post - the true increase has been a factor of two, or at the very most 2.5: so the '25 x stronger' claim is an exaggeration of an order of magnitude!

Ibogaine lore is very interesting but I don't know if I believe the reports.
Do expand on what you mean by lore, nomad, and what reports you don't believe...
The "Tribe" episode where Bruce Parry takes iboga was interesting.
I also saw a talk 8 or 9 years ago by someone (wish I could remember who) who was one of the few people at that time who had gone to Gabon and been initiated into the Bwiti religion. What I will never forget is the far-away glazed look in his eyes. He absolutely refused to talk about the content of his experience, much to the disappointment of the assembled crowd, many of whom had had plenty of psychedelic experience and were unwilling to believe that this was anything more special.
All he did was show a bunch of slides at the end of the talk of giant blue eyes from different cultures around the world (eye of Horus, etc), without any real explanation. Was quite unnerving.
Personally I would never advise anyone to smoke cannabis on a regular basis. Whilst it may appear to be one of the 'safer' drugs, I would argue that it is not.
Whilst it is true that the facts are slightly distorted with regards to cannabis causing psychosis, such as schizophrenia, in that this tends to be the case only if the user already had a predisposition towards psychotic symptoms, cannabis can also lead to anxiety and depression - and as these can be both independent of biological factors, and thus predispositions, it could happen to anyone who smokes cannabis on a regular basis.
I highly, highly doubt that the government would ever legalise the production of cannabis or make the production of alcohol illegal.
Unlike say, MODERN LIFE! (or lack of weed....)cannabis can also lead to anxiety and depression
