Not that it justifies the physical violence, but there are conflicting reports on this. The Israeli government may be claiming fans were attacked "just because of their Jewishness and Israeliness" but there are others claiming they were climbing buildings, ripping down Palestinian flags, fighting with taxi drivers and marching around chanting about murdering Arabs.
