I've managed 8 films this month, not a huge haul but more than I've watched in a month all of 2024. I wouldn't recommend them all to everyone but I enjoyed them all in one way or another.

Stray Dog ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Drunken Angel ⭐⭐⭐
Woman of the Hour ⭐⭐
Point Break ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Police Story ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Anatomy of a Fall ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It Follows ⭐⭐⭐⭐

(And watched Evil Dead 1 and 2 on October 31st—in retrospect, what kicked this whole series off, along with the shit weather.)

i saw spielberg's AI last night.... ive seen it hailed as one of spielberg's best and most affecting.... i dont really find it as such, but i did like the film.... ive seen nearly all of spielberg's highly acclaimed films now and i will hand it to him on some occasions but overall ive kinda just come to the understanding that he'll never be one of my favorite filmmakers, always someone i respect more than admire. maybe hes made more "great" films than like ferrara or one of my other fav filmmakers, but ill always be far greater interested and immersed in their material an sensibilities than spielberg.

I watched "Yojimbo" last night. Found it very entertaining (the line about two coffins, maybe three, an all time badass moment) but was a little bit underwhelmed in truth, perhaps because the other Kurosawas I'd watched over the weekend were quite different tonally, much darker... Although really Yojimbo is quite dark, it's full of corpses, but there's a comic tone to it all, the gangsters only kill each other, although some deaths are quite savage.

I particularly liked the one samurai pussyholi who had a pistol that he kept pulling out threateningly with the least excuse

Now watch 'Fisful of Dollars'. It's ridiculous.

The Parallax View is the best I've watched with my sister recently. Watched it years ago but didn't concentrate and it's more straightforward than I remembered. We've almost finished The Ipcress File too, and it ain't as good, not much flow, but watchable enough.

Didn't watch much during Noirvember, reminded on Twitter there's loads of all round film buffs that have seen more than me, and got a few recommendations I'm yet to watch as I haven't been in the mood for watching films.

New one on me but do love The Dark Crystal, Labrynth, and Neverending Story type films, just never in the mood.
